Einstein’s Dreams by Alan Lightman
The novel fictionalizes Albert Einstein as a young scientist who is troubled by dreams as he works on his theory of relativity in 1905. The book consists of 30 chapters, each exploring one dream about time that Einstein had during this period. The framework of the book consists of a prelude, three interludes, and an epilogue. Einstein's friend, Michele Besso, appears in these sections. Each dream involves a conception of time. Some scenarios may involve exaggerations of true phenomena related to relativity, and some may be entirely fantastical. The book demonstrates the relationship each human being has to time, and thus spiritually affirms Einstein's theory of relativity.

Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman is one of my favorite books ever.
My favorite chapter presents a scenario wherein everyone knows when the world is going to end. I find it very interesting because the events seem so plausible. I've never been big on Physics1 but this literary approach has helped me appreciate it more. It's also quite philosophical in nature and I've been drawn to it, reading it over and over again, at very different points in my life.
I took a Philosophy of Man course when I took a 2nd degree and I gave a copy of this book as a gift to one of the friends I made in that class. I haven't asked him about it since then but we just got in touch again and I hope to find out that he enjoyed it as much as I did.

Where the Wild Things Are (2009)
Jim and I went to see Where the Wild Things Are on our date night. We almost fell asleep a few times. We were both really tired and the movie didn't help. It wasn't bad though we probably won't watch it again. I thought it was sweet and there were a couple of high notes and funny parts. I liked Douglas and Alexander the most. Judith was entertaining.
I'm curious about the book. I probably read it as a child but most of the children's books in my collection were by Shel Silverstein. I also had a very heavy hardcover of all of the Winnie the Pooh stories. Gaaah... I really want to start rebuilding my collection / library. Right now I have 7 books that Jim gave me — Stephen King's Dark Tower series.
I have 2 more on the way — A Game of Thrones, Book 1 of A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin and Einstein's Dreams by Alan Lightman.
I'm starting with my favorites.
